ESTATE PLANNING
Estate Planning involves the design and implementation of a structure to control and deal with the distribution of a person’s assets following their death.
Once upon a time, a simple Will was good enough. However life today is much more complex, and a modern Estate Plan is more necessary than ever to cater for the growing wealth of modern families, the baby boomer generation, blended (and sometimes broken) families, superannuation, the education of children and grandchildren.
The tax saving opportunities go beyond your own children. Your parents – the grandparents can do so much for the next generation with an effective Estate Plan.
MULTIGENERATION TESTAMENTARY TRUST WILLS
Our multigenerational Testamentary Trust Wills are designed to provide, savings and asset protection to serve the needs of families through successive generations – whilst allowing maximum flexibility so that the Beneficiaries can access the income and capital in the most convenient, safe and effective way.
THE PLANNING PROCESS – HOW IT WORKS
Preparing your Estate Plan involves an interactive process, in which you are directly involved.
Step 1 – Gathering Information
At the initial stage we will meet with you to gather your personal and family information, as well as information about your assets and how these are held. We will discuss your wishes and intentions with you as well as any special issues that relate to you and your family.
Step 2 – Developing Your Plan
We will then work with you to develop your personal Estate Plan. This will include Testamentary Trust Wills for you and your partner, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Enduring Guardianship Appointments, a Memorandum of Wishes and sometimes a death benefit nomination for superannuation purposes. The specifics differ for each family.
We will inform you of the actual cost of carrying out your personal Estate Plan. Everyone’s circumstances differ and our charges vary to take this into account. However our basic fee for an Estate Plan for two people and their family starts at $3,500 plus GST.
Step 3 – Putting Your Plan Together
Your Estate Plan will be tailored to your personal needs and circumstances. The draft documents will be sent to you together with our explanation of the plan. This will usually occur within one week following our meeting.
Step 4 – Review
We will review the draft plan with you. The review involves going through the draft of your Estate Plan, discussing and explaining any issues which arise and making fine-tuning alterations.
Step 5 – Signing
The final step is the signing of your Estate Plan documentation according to prescribed formalities. Once this is done, your Estate Planning documents will be bound together and the original will be sent to you for safe-keeping. We will retain a copy for future reference.
YOU HAVE NOW ACHIEVED PEACE OF MIND AND SECURITY FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.
